The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation provides $3,000 grants to each of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's Teachers of the Year. Annually, four teachers are chosen by DPI to receive this award. One of the four educators will be chosen to represent Wisconsin in the National Teacher of the Year competition and will receive an additional $6,000 from the Kohl Foundation.
